Dear ANPA members, Unfortunately, I have bad news 😢. Below is the message written to ANPA week volunteers and our board of directors on April 16, 2026 following the painful loss of our beloved friend, colleague, inlaw, sister, mother, wife, Dr. Mrs. Uzoma Nwaubani.
The letter was written after consultation with the leadership on ground and the family, who requested privacy. However, postings and comments by others continued thus we’re sharing with the general membership as the mission just concluded.
“Dear Colleagues,
We are deeply saddened to share the passing of a beloved physician during the ANPA Medical Mission in Aba, after a brief illness.
She was taken to the hospital in Aba, Abia State when she experienced a medical emergency. Despite all efforts by the medical team, she could not be revived.
We are grateful to our colleague Prof. Benjamin Anyanwu the Executive Medical Director of Regions Healthcare who provided his hospital ambulance free of charge and support to ANPA and the family as part of the robust effort to save her life. He continues to support the family at this point.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, loved ones, and colleagues during this very difficult time. ANPA leadership remains in direct communication with the family and is committed to providing ongoing support.
We kindly ask that all members and volunteers refrain from speculation or sharing unverified information, particularly on social media, to allow for coordinated and respectful communication. The family has requested privacy at this time.
In honor of her commitment to service, and in accordance with the family’s wishes, the ANPA Medical Mission will continue as planned.
Support resources, including mental health professionals, counselors, and chaplains, are available to all volunteers who may need them.
Further updates will be shared as appropriate.”
May her gentle soul rest in peace 🙏🏾.
Please keep her family and all our volunteers in prayers.
Respectfully,
