One of the founding members of ANPA.
ANPA is the brain wave of one great Howardite – Dr. Iheanacho Emeruwa, supported by Dr. Dapo Popoola, Drs. Kpaduwa, Dr. Yinka Shoroye, Dr. Salako (rest in peace) and others. Unfortunately, we lost Dr. Shoroye on this ANPA journey. My good wishes remain with him.
It was early ‘95 that my wife & I received a call from Dr. Emeruwa who shared with us his thoughts about forming an association of Nigerian Physicians in the US. We thought it was a noble idea and immediately embraced it. No doubt, he reached out to other Nigerian physicians as well.
On August 11-13 1995 we had our inaugural and first ANPA scientific meeting held at The Disneyland Hotel, at Anaheim, California.
Every founding member contributed in his or her own little ways to keep ANPA alive and growing.
A lot has already been said by others about the formative years of ANPA, and so I will skip it.
Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo, Dr. Daniel Nwankwo, (may their souls rest in peace),
Dr. Udo Asonye, my wife with a few other doctors, put together The Chicago ANPA Chapter.
Dr. Olowopopo was the 1st Chicago Chapter chair. He served diligently for 3 years. I succeeded him; served for 4 years before I passed on the baton to Dr. Deji Adufuye. The chapter continues to wax
strong and ANPA continues to grow.
I am proud to be an ANPA member and join the many others in congratulating ANPA on her 25th Anniversary and Scientific meeting.
