• ANPA New York: Health Fair/ Activity Workshop for Middle and High School Students.

On Sept 23 ANPA NY actualized a day of mentoring for middle and high school students. The Brunch with Health Professionals and Health Fair / activity workshop was the end result of a Collaborative effort between Mentor in Medicine , NYC Health & Hospital Cooperation and ANPA NY Chapter. Over 100 middle and HS students and their families were treated 1/1 Mentoring from healthcare professionals including physicians of various subspecialties.

On hand for introductions and to kick off the program was Dr Lynne Holden CEO Mentoring in Medicine, Mrs. Maureen Pode CEO Health and Human Hospitals North Central Bronx Hospital, Christina Contreras the COO and Chinyere Anyaogu Chair Membership Committee, ANPA.
Of the physicians present over half were ANPA members and in all over a dozen and half professionals including dietitians, physician assistants, dentists, nurses and pharmacists in addition to the physicians were present.

The program slated from 10a-2pm included direct mentoring of the kids 1:1, networking followed by an activity session that included an anatomy lab of sheep hearts, eyes and brain, nutrition labels, GI tract simulation, suturing bench, pharmacy corner, dentistry table, ER / CPR station,ob station to name a few. The response was awe inspiring!

Dr Francis Agbonkpolo, Ponle Durujaiye, Vicki Chima were hands on the participatory tables and activity workshop. And we were able to link up with other Nigerians who responded to the invite and were interested in ANPA. Dr Smith was also present and learnt about ANPA and its programs.

The children learned a lot and had a wonderful time and all who participated developed a deep felt commitment to participating in future programs -students and professionals alike.

A fruitful collaboration was a truly win -win and wonderful testament to how much more we can do together for a greater good.
